Bauchi police seek more personnel, equipment to tackle insecurity

The Bauchi State Police Command has appealed to the Federal and Bauchi State governments to provide additional manpower, modern operational equipment and logistics support to strengthen its fight against criminality across the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, made the appeal on Thursday during a stakeholders’ engagement session led by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Intelligence Department and Coordinating DIG for the North-East, Zacharia Fera, alongside the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Department of Research and Planning, Ibrahim Zango.

Speaking during his welcome address, the police commissioner said the command required critical operational assets to effectively maintain law and order, protect lives and property, and dominate the security space across the state.

According to him, the command needs patrol vehicles, motorcycles for forest operations, communication equipment, satellite phones, surveillance drones, night-vision devices, GPS trackers, ammunition, ballistic helmets, bulletproof vests, riot control
