The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olutunji Disu, has deployed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 4 Headquarters, Makurdi, AIG Dankombo Morris, to Plateau State following the recent deadly attack on Kawel community in Mushere District of Bokkos Local Government Area.
The attack reportedly claimed no fewer than 20 lives.
The deployment, according to the police, is part of immediate measures to assess the security situation on the ground and implement strategies aimed at restoring calm and preventing further attacks in the area.
The IGP also approved the deployment of additional personnel and operational assets, including Police Mobile Force units and tactical teams, to strengthen security presence in the affected communities.
During a visit to Bokkos on Tuesday, AIG Morris, accompanied by members of the Plateau State Police Command management team, held strategic engagements with local government officials, traditional rulers and other stakeholders to coordinate the security response.
