Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 1 Brigade under Counter-Terrorism Operation 6 have rescued three kidnap victims who spent approximately three months in a terrorist hideout in Zamfara State after successfully escaping their captors.
According to a report by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the victims managed to break free from the terrorists’ camp and made contact with military personnel. They were rescued at about 8:45am on Sunday, June 22, 2026, by troops deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bagega in Anka Local Government Area.
“The troops immediately secured the victims and provided initial assistance before evacuating them for medical attention,” Makama stated.The rescued individuals are currently undergoing medical evaluation and treatment as a result of their prolonged ordeal in captivity.
