
Lawmaker representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency, Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, has condemned the killing of a teacher identified simply as Ummulkhairi by a mob.
The woman was lynched in Mararaban Jos, a community along the Kaduna-Zaria highway, on Sunday after being falsely accused of attempting to kidnap children.
Reacting, El-Rufai in a statement on Tuesday lamented how an innocent woman whose only “offence” was asking for directions to attend a lecture, was subjected to an act of unimaginable cruelty.
According to the lawmaker, the barbaric act is a “stain on our collective conscience”, stating that no “suspicion or allegation without evidence can ever justify mob violence”.
