A pro-Yoruba group, the Yoruba Leaders of Thought, has described the victory of Governor Biodun Oyebanji in the last Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State as historic and an affirmation of his excellent performance in his first term.
The group, which said that Oyebanji’s victory “is a confirmation of the confidence the people of Ekiti State have in his government”, urged him to surpass his present achievements in his second term.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday, declared Oyebanji, who was APC candidate, winner of the 2026 Ekiti governorship election having polled 319,224 votes to defeat other contenders for the state highest seat
The YLT, in a congratulatory letter signed by the leader, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, and made available in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, noted that “Governor Oyebanji broke all records in terms of number of votes scored and the prevailing peaceful atmosphere that characterized the election”.
