
No fewer than 10 persons were rescued alive on Thursday after a two-storey building collapsed at Alakija Bus Stop, Satellite Town, along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incident in a statement issued by its Director, Mrs Margaret Adeseye.
Adeseye said the service received a distress call at 11:37 a.m. and immediately deployed emergency responders from the Ijegun-Egba Fire Station to the scene at Old Ojo Road, near Alakija Bus Stop.
She said the rescue team arrived at about 11:49 a.m. and commenced search and rescue operations.
According to her, the collapsed structure was an occupied residential building housing multiple residents.
“Ten persons have been rescued alive with varying degrees of injuries and have been handed over to medical personnel for necessary treatment,” Adeseye said.
She said rescue operations were still ongoing to ascertain whether more victims remained
