The Anambra State Police Command has secured the remand of a couple – Chukwudi Chukwuyere ‘M’ aged 40 years and Mrs Chisom Chukwuyere ‘F’ aged 30 years, in a correctional centre over their alleged involvement in the abuse of a 10-year-old boy under their care.
Recall that the boy, identified as Chiziterem, whose viral video was seen on social media with a scalded body, showing injuries on all parts of his body, allegedly inflicted on him by his guardians, in Awada, Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.
He is currently receiving medical treatment under state protection.
The video footage of the victim which surfaced online some days ago attracted public concern prompting the state government’s intervention.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, the spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the suspects were arraigned in court following the conclusion of preliminary investigations
