Kano gov sets up panel to probe boarding school student’s death

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has approved the constitution of an administrative investigative committee to probe the circumstances surrounding the death of a student of St. Louis College, Kano.

This is contained in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Dawaki-Tofa, on Thursday in Kano.

He said the committee would be chaired by the Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Ali Makoda.

Members of the committee include Aminu Hussain, Special Adviser on Justice and Constitutional Matters; Hamza Dantani; and Abubakar Umar, Executive Secretary of the Private and Voluntary Institutions Management Board.

Others are Sunusi Dawaki-Tofa, Director-General, Media and Publicity; Ahmed Zubairu, representative of proprietors of private schools; the PTA chairman of St. Louis College; while Hafsat Adhama, Senior Special Assistant on Girl Child Education, will serve as secretary.

According to Tofa, Mrs Binta Mukhtar, the Under Secretary/REPA, will serve as assistant secretary.

The committee is tasked with conducting an independent investigation
