Olisa Metuh, Director of Mobilisation and Enlightenment of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, has praised President Bola Tinubu for championing the establishment of state police, describing it as a courageous and historic step in Nigeria’s security reform.
Metuh, a former National Publicity Secretary of the PDP who later joined the APC, said the passage of the State Police Bill marked a turning point in efforts to tackle insecurity through decentralised policing.
“President Tinubu has demonstrated courage, foresight, and statesmanship by championing a reform that successive administrations were unable to accomplish despite widespread public support,” Metuh stated.
He argued that state police would:
Strengthen community policing and improve intelligence gathering.Enhance response to security threats such as kidnapping, banditry, and terrorism.Create jobs and boost growth by expanding opportunities in the security sector.
