Arise News anchor, Rufai Oseni, has cautioned that any presidential candidate who considers themselves too important to grant television interviews cannot truly serve Nigerians.
In a post on X, Oseni argued that leaders unwilling to engage with the media are “too big for the people they intend to govern.”
He stressed that avoiding interviews or debates signals detachment from citizens and undermines democratic accountability.
His remarks come as Nigerians prepare for the 2027 general elections, where they will elect a President, governors, and representatives at both national and state levels.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has already published the credentials and personal details of presidential candidates and their running mates.
“Any presidential candidate that is too big to appear for an interview on television will never serve Nigerians well. Such persons will be too big for the people, especially those that will never debate,” Oseni wrote.
