2027: Atiku, Obi, Kwankwaso, Makinde Plan August 18 Opposition Summit

A coalition of concerned Nigerians known as the G100 has announced that leading opposition figures, Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde will meet in Abuja on August 18, 2026, to explore forming a united front against President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.

In a statement signed by Salihu Moh. Lukman, the G100 revealed that it had concluded its first round of consultations with leaders of six opposition parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and Social Democratic Party (SDP). 

The group described the engagements as “frank, constructive and encouraging.”The consultations followed the G100’s August 2 open letter, which outlined its “Doctrine of Necessary Democratic Opposition.” 

According to the group, discussions were deliberately kept away from media attention to allow party leaders to engage candidly.
