2027: Obi, Atiku Lack Northern Support to Defeat Tinubu – Ganduje

Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has asserted that opposition leaders Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) cannot muster the grassroots strength needed in Northern Nigeria to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking at a public event in Kano on Monday, Ganduje emphasized the strategic importance of the North in determining electoral outcomes.

“The North is strategic in every presidential election in Nigeria. With due respect to our friends in the opposition, neither Peter Obi nor Atiku Abubakar can mobilise enough support in this region to defeat President Tinubu in 2027,” he said.

Ganduje also expressed concern over the proliferation of political parties, urging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to tighten registration requirements.

He argued that only parties with strong structures, clear ideologies, and nationwide reach should be recognized.
