2027: Tinubu, Atiku, Obi weigh top politicians for campaign DG roles 

Bola Tinubu, President and presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Peter Obi, former Anambra governor and presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Coalition (NDC), have intensified consultations over the composition of their campaign organisations ahead of the August 19 commencement of campaigns for the 2027 presidential election.

With barely two weeks to the official start of the campaigns fixed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the major political parties are finalising their campaign structures, with former governors emerging as leading contenders for the influential Director-General positions.

Credible sources hinted that in the APC, Hope Uzodimma, Imo State governor, and Tanko Al-Makura, former Nasarawa State governor, have emerged as the leading contenders to head Tinubu’s re-election campaign, although party sources said no final decision has been taken.
