The Jigawa state police command says it has launched an investigation into the death of a 60-year-old man who suffered a medical emergency at a hotel in Dutse, the state capital, while in the company of a 20-year-old woman.
In a statement, Lawan Shiisu Adam, police spokesperson Jigawa, said the incident was reported at about 12:50pm on Tuesday.
According to Adam, the man had checked into the hotel in Dutse metropolis with the woman and later requested a meal but suddenly began gasping for air.
“Upon receiving the distress report, police officers attached to the Yalwawa Division responded swiftly to the scene and immediately evacuated him to the General Hospital, Dutse, where he was examined by medical personnel and unfortunately certified dead,” the statement reads.
