Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has called for the immediate arrest, thorough investigation, and dismissal of Minister of Works Dave Umahi following the death of Mary Habila at the minister’s residence.
Sowore made the demand while speaking with journalists on Monday, describing the incident as part of a pattern of alleged wrongdoing catching up with Umahi.
He referenced previous controversies under Umahi’s watch, including the disappearance of five engineers.
Sowore claimed that when pressure mounted for answers, the remains provided for testing did not match expectations.
He also mentioned a family allegedly imprisoned in Ebonyi State on Umahi’s orders since 2025, and criticized the construction of an expensive but underutilized airport in Ebonyi.
“You can commit crimes and get away with it at some point, yes, but you will never get away at all times. Now his crimes are catching up with him,” Sowore said.
