Ghanaian startups Built, GrowForMe, and SAYeTECH have raised a combined US$500,000 in funding from the Africa Ecosystem Catalysts Facility, a US$4 million pilot investment facility aimed at identifying founders often overlooked by traditional investors.
Managed by Village Capital with funding from the Dutch Entrepreneurial Development Bank (FMO) and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), the Africa Ecosystem Catalysts Facility aims to provide early-stage capital for startups in Ghana, Nigeria, and Tanzania that are advancing climate resilience and economic mobility.
The facility runs a locally-led investment model, partnering with in-market entrepreneur support organisations (ESOs) that help identify strong founder teams, shape investment pipelines, and advise on due diligence. In Ghana, Reach for Change and Innovation Spark partnered with Village Capital to shape the investment pipeline, ensuring capital is aligned with the realities on the ground.
Investments totalling US$500,000 have been made in three Ghanaian startups, namely Built Financial Technologies, which helps SMEs digitise operations; GrowForMe, which connects farmers with finance and services; and SAYeTECH, a manufacturer of smart agricultural machinery. These bring the facility’s total investments in Ghana to US$850,000, after it backed Rivia and VDL Fulfillment with a combined US$350,000 back in May.
Together, these investments illustrate the facility’s focus on backing enterprises that solve ecosystem bottlenecks by improving access to finance, strengthening agricultural value chains and expanding locally designed manufacturing solutions, all creating stronger foundations for business growth in Ghana.
“These startups are building practical, locally grounded solutions to challenges that affect how small businesses and farmers operate every day.
