Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has been plunged into a state of anxiety as cult activities and the sex-for-marks syndrome reportedly resurface on campus, leaving students, particularly females, living in fear and uncertainty.
Investigations indicate that disciplinary measures enforced by the former management have lapsed following the resumption of Salihu Sanusi Avidime as the new Rector. Some lecturers allegedly exploit their positions, threatening female students with academic failure unless they comply with sexual or financial demands.
Allegations of extortion and compromised discipline
Sources on campus claim that certain lecturers in the Public Administration and Graphics Design departments demand sums ranging from ₦70,000 to ₦80,000, alongside sexual favours, to guarantee passing grades.
A student who reported an incident to management allegedly faced intimidation rather than justice.
