FG commissions upgraded Kano Airport terminal, approves N46bn for second runway

The Federal Government has commissioned the remodeled and upgraded Muhammadu Adamu Dankabo Domestic Terminal at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), while announcing the approval of ₦46 billion for the resurfacing and reconstruction of the airport’s second runway as part of efforts to modernise Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure.

Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, who commissioned the facility on Tuesday, said the projects form part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to upgrade critical aviation infrastructure, improve passenger experience and position Nigeria’s airports to meet international standards.

Describing Kano as the commercial heartbeat of Northern Nigeria, Keyamo said the airport has been identified as a strategic gateway requiring significant investment because of its importance to trade, commerce and regional connectivity.
