Nigerian‑founded artificial intelligence startup ProtonLabs Technology has reached OpenAI’s 10 billion‑token processing threshold, joining a select group of companies recognised by the AI developer for the scale of activity running on its technology.
The UK‑based company, which developed the AskYourPDF platform, said on Tuesday that it had been included in OpenAI’s Token Milestones list after surpassing 10 billion tokens processed through its artificial intelligence systems. The company was founded by Isaac Mayowa David, Emmanuel Olarewaju David and Yackson Kayode Oluwasesan.
Its inclusion places ProtonLabs among 141 companies identified by OpenAI as having processed at least 10 billion, 100 billion or one trillion tokens using the company’s technology.
In artificial intelligence, tokens are the basic units of text processed by language models whenever they interpret a prompt, analyse information or generate a response. The number of tokens consumed typically increases with the complexity and volume of text an application processes.
