Refuse heaps to disappear soon in Lagos, LAWMA assures residents

The Lagos State Waste Management Authority has assured residents that the growing waste backlog across the state will soon be cleared, following new measures aimed at improving waste disposal operations.

LAWMA Managing Director, Dr Muyiwa Gbadegesin, gave the assurance during the commissioning of the rehabilitated Road E and newly constructed disposal platforms at the Olusosun Disposal Facility in the Ojota area of Lagos on Tuesday.

Gbadegesin said the project was a strategic intervention designed to remove operational challenges, improve access within the facility and boost the efficiency of waste evacuation across the state.

According to him, the additional space created at the facility would help LAWMA tackle the accumulation of refuse on Lagos roads as the agency works towards improving waste management services.
