The Enugu State Government has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that innocent residents were attacked in Awgu Local Government Area of the state.
The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Dr. Malachy Agbo, said in a statement on Monday that no such incident occurred in Awgu or any other part of the state.
Agbo described the report as false and misleading, alleging that it was fabricated to misinform the public and create panic.
He said residents across the state were carrying out their normal activities without any security breach of the nature being reported.
“We wish to state unequivocally that no such incident occurred. The report is fake, baseless, and exists only in the imagination of those peddling it,” he said.
He urged members of the public to disregard the report and avoid spreading unverified information capable of causing fear and confusion.
