The Jigawa State Government has approved the constitution of a high-level committee to develop a framework for the registration of transit herders as part of efforts to promote peaceful coexistence between farmers and pastoralists across the state.
The State Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Hon. Sagir Musa Ahmad, disclosed this while briefing journalists on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting.
He said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring the free, orderly and secure movement of livestock while strengthening measures to improve security, livestock management and public health.
According to Ahmad, “The constitution of this committee is aimed at developing a practical framework for the registration of transit herders in order to promote peaceful coexistence between farmers and pastoralists and ensure the orderly movement of livestock across Jigawa State.”
