Chelsea have rejected several approaches for highly-rated defender Josh Acheampong

, reinforcing the club’s determination to keep hold of one of its most promising academy graduates.

The 20-year-old is regarded as a key part of Chelsea’s future plans and has reportedly been given “untouchable” status by the club.

Such a designation places Acheampong among an elite group of players considered central to the Blues’ long-term project, alongside stars such as Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro and Moises Caicedo.

The England Under-21 international made 17 Premier League appearances last season, nine of which came from the substitutes’ bench, but the club remains convinced of his potential.
