The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has launched the second phase of its Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Blockchain Capacity Building Programme, expanding efforts to equip officers with emerging technology skills to strengthen migration management, border security and public service delivery.
The programme, organised by the Service’s ICT and Cybersecurity Directorate, will train 220 officers in two batches following the successful completion of the first phase.
According to the NIS, participants will receive training in AI concepts and applications, blockchain technology, AI ethics and data protection, as well as AI-blockchain integration for digital immigration operations. The initiative is expected to enhance migration management, border governance, institutional efficiency and national security.
Declaring the programme open on behalf of Kemi Nandap, Comptroller-General of Immigration, FU Nwanneka, Deputy Comptroller-General and Head of the Visa and Residency Directorate, reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to innovation and continuous professional development.
