
Close associates of former President Goodluck Jonathan have broken their silence to dismiss speculations regarding a potential presidential bid in 2027.
The associates insists there is absolutely no indication that the former leader intends to return to the ballot, describing recent developments linking him to the race as politically motivated fabrications designed to create confusion within the political space.
The clarification follows series of announcements by an interim National Working Committee (iNWC) of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction led by Tanimu Turaki (SAN). According to the Turaki-led group, the former president registered as a member of its faction and secretly purchased, completed, and submitted the expression of interest and nomination forms for the 2027 presidential race.
The public were also shown how the faction screened and cleared Jonathan in absentia, culminating in a formal announcement on Saturday declaring him their official 2027 presidential candidate.
