
Boko Haram insurgents have launched a deadly dawn raid on a Nigerian Army base in Borno State, killing at least eight soldiers and injuring several others during a fierce gun battle.
Military sources confirmed that the attack targeted the 162 Battalion base situated along the Mandara–Buratai Road.
Taking advantage of poor visibility and torrential rainfall, the terrorists stormed the facility in the early hours of Friday morning, catching the stationed troops off guard.
“162 Battalion Mandara Buratai Road, eight soldiers were killed in action. They attacked us at 4 a.m. today (Friday) when it was raining,” a military source revealed.
According to additional security sources, the insurgent fighters overran sections of the military outpost, executing a brutal assault on the personnel before a counter-offensive could be fully organized.
“They killed eight soldiers and beheaded them. Several others were injured during the attack,” an insider revealed.
