Police Arrest Three Suspects Over Abduction, Assault of Ekiti LCDA Chairman

The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the alleged conspiracy, abduction, and assault of Rufus Olorunfemi, Chairman of Ikere-West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), and another individual, Funso Ajayi.  

  

 The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 3, 2026, around 9pm, when three Hilux vehicles carrying armed men in camouflage uniforms accosted the victims along Anoye Street in Ikere Ekiti and whisked them away. 

The two men were taken to the compound of a popular politician, where they were seriously assaulted before being released.  

  

Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Michael Falade, has ordered a thorough investigation into the matter. Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Friday.
