The Nigerian Independent System Operator has again distanced itself from the widely followed X account, “Nigeria National Grid,” describing it as unauthorised and urging the public and media organisations to stop citing it — but Nigerians are not having it.
In a statement dated June 5, 2026, NISO said it had no affiliation with the account and that those operating it were unknown to the organisation.
The body added that it had issued a similar warning as far back as January 17, 2026, suggesting the earlier notice was largely ignored.
“The public, media organisations, and all stakeholders are strongly advised not to quote, reference, rely upon, or attribute any information, statements, claims, or opinions published on the said account to NISO.
“Any such content does not represent the official position, operations, or activities of the organisation,” NISO said.
