Democracy Day: Call for Electoral Transparency, National Reflection — Peter Obi

Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has called on Nigerians to reflect on the meaning of June 12, describing it as a symbolic reminder of the country’s democratic journey and the need for credible elections and accountable governance.

In a statement marking Democracy Day, Obi said June 12 should not merely be observed as a public holiday, but as a moment of national introspection on the state of Nigeria’s democracy.

“Today, we observe a day that should mean a great deal to us as a people who cherish democratic principles,” he said.

He noted that the annual commemoration of June 12 often raises critical questions about governance and the credibility of Nigeria’s electoral process.
