NSC backs Awoniyi’s Kwara Kiddies league

The National Sports Commission has pledged its full backing for Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest forward Taiwo Awoniyi’s grassroots football initiative, the Kwara Kiddies League, with NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko describing the project as vital to nurturing the next generation of Nigerian talent.

Dikko made the commitment when he received Awoniyi on a courtesy visit to the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja. The Super Eagles striker was accompanied by former Nigerian international and ex-Bundesliga forward Anthony Ujah.

During the visit, Awoniyi presented the NSC Chairman with an official Nottingham Forest jersey and outlined his vision to expand opportunities for young footballers through the Kwara Kiddies League and other youth-focused sports development projects he is involved in.

Dikko commended the striker for investing in grassroots sports and assured him of the Commission’s readiness to provide the necessary support and an enabling environment for the initiative to succeed.
