
Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has threatened to publicly execute anyone convicted of kidnapping in the state.
The governor said convicted kidnappers would be paraded across the state and hanged at designated roundabouts for residents to witness.
He made the remarks on Thursday, June 18, 2026, while announcing plans to establish special courts for the speedy trial of kidnapping and cultism cases.
Okpebholo said the special courts would be mandated to hear cases and deliver judgment within two to three weeks.
“Now we are going to set up a special court to try suspected kidnappers and cultists. Within two to three weeks, we are done with it, and I will sign it.
“The execution — hang him. I will take you to the roundabout so that the whole of Edo people will see you, and on this I will have no regrets,” Okpebholo said.
