
President Bola Tinubu has granted a six-month tenure extension to the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi.
Adeniyi’s previous term extension was scheduled to finish on August 1, 2026. With this new directive, his leadership has now been stretched to February 2027.
The Presidency explained that this additional six months will allow Adeniyi to smoothly finish the implementation of the National Single Window project and prepare an organized handover process for who takes over next.
During this transition window, Adeniyi will work directly with the Nigeria Customs Service Board to coordinate staff updates. This includes promoting qualified officers to the rank of Comptroller of Customs, alongside handling the compulsory retirement of personnel who have hit 60 years of age or completed 35 years of active service.
