President Bola Tinubu has granted a six-month extension to the tenure of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Comptroller-General, Adewale Adeniyi.

According to a statement issued on Friday by Presidential Media Aide Bayo Onanuga, the extension described as final will run until February 2027. Adeniyi’s previous one-year extension, granted in 2025, had been set to expire on August 1, 2026.

The move aims to allow Adeniyi to consolidate the implementation of the National Single Window project, a key initiative designed to streamline trade processes by linking multiple government agencies for faster cargo clearance and improved revenue generation.

It will also facilitate an orderly leadership transition within the service.

During this period, Adeniyi, in collaboration with the NCS Board, will oversee the promotion of eligible officers to the rank of Comptroller of Customs and the compulsory retirement of those who have reached 60 years of age or completed 35 years of service.
