Canal+ partners Samsung to pre-install DStv stream on smart TVs across Africa

Canal+ has partnered with Samsung to pre-install the DStv Stream app on new Smart TVs sold in 18 African markets. This partnership, announced on June 22, 2026, builds directly on strategies long employed by global streaming giants like Netflix.

In an official social media post, Canal+ said, “CANAL+ and @Samsung are taking their strategic partnership a step further by expanding it across English and Portuguese-speaking African markets covered by  @MultiChoiceGRP. The agreement will bring DStv Stream to Samsung Smart TVs in 18 African countries, further strengthening access to the group’s content and digital services across the continent.”

The integration means that when consumers in countries including South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Angola, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe unbox a new Samsung TV, the DStv Stream app will already appear on the home screen.
