Osun party leaders ask police to tackle electoral violence

Leadership of some opposition parties in Osun State, on Wednesday demanded tougher measures from the state police command to tackle the rising spate of violent crimes in the state.

The party chairmen made the demand in their separate remarks at a meeting convened by the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, and attended by the leadership of some political parties participating in the August 15 Osun  governorship poll, religious leaders and selected community leaders.

Others in attendance include, Lt Col. Y. Isyaku of Engineering Construction Command, Army Barrack, Ede, Amao Abiodun from the Nigeria Drug Law Administration and Control Osun State Command, Sola Adeotan of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Osun State Command and F. Isaac from the Fed Fire Service, Osun State command, among others

But the ruling party in the state, the Accord, and the main opposition party, the All Progressives Congress did not send representatives to the meeting,
