Kano tops states in voter registration, records 441,845 new voters

Kano State has emerged as the highest-ranking state in Nigeria for newly registered voters, recording an impressive 441,845 registrations under the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise as of June 15, 2026.

The figures were contained in a report presented by the Sub-Committee on ICT and Data Collection, chaired by the Kano State Commissioner for Livestock Development, Dr Aliyu Isa Aliyu.

According to the report released on Thursday, Kano topped all the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, underscoring a growing level of political awareness and civic engagement among residents.

The report indicated that the achievement was largely driven by sustained voter mobilisation efforts and public awareness campaigns initiated by the Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
