The BET Awards delivered an emotional and star-studded tribute to music icon Lauryn Hill, celebrating an artist whose influence has transcended generations.
The 20-minute Living Legend Icon Award tribute featured appearances and performances from stars including SZA, Doja Cat, Nas, Queen Latifah and Rapsody, all paying homage to a catalogue that helped reshape hip-hop and R&B.
But the night’s most touching moments came from home.
Three of Hill’s children, Selah, YG and Zion Marley, took to the stage to perform some of their mother’s songs as she watched proudly from the audience. Her son, John, also joined her onstage, where the crowd serenaded him on his 22nd birthday, while her daughter, Sara, received a special shoutout.
Accepting the honour, Hill delivered a heartfelt message that resonated beyond the music.
