God Rewarded Remi Tinubu’s Senate Punctuality with First Lady Role – Barau

Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin has attributed the elevation of Senator Oluremi Tinubu to Nigeria’s First Lady to divine reward for her exceptional punctuality and dedication while serving in the Senate. 

Speaking on Tuesday during plenary, Barau supported a proposal for recording senators’ attendance at the end of each sitting to recognise those who stay until adjournment. He emphasised that commitment to legislative duties brings rewards not only from colleagues and Senate leadership but also from God.

“Let me even say one thing, apart from being compensated by colleagues or by the leadership, God also compensates you, rewards you for what you are doing,” Barau said.

He cited the example of the current First Lady: “The current first lady, she used to be the number one person, first person that always came to this senate. When she was in the Senate, the most punctual, very punctual and she would stay throughout the session.
