ADC Accuses Tinubu of Political Persecution Over El-Rufai’s Doctor’s Arrest

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of authoritarian tactics following the reported arrest of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s personal physician and the alleged assault on his wife.

In a statement on Tuesday, ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi alleged that officials of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) blocked El-Rufai from receiving medical treatment at the National Hospital, Abuja, despite medical advice for admission.

According to the party, El-Rufai’s wife and doctor protested the decision to return him to custody, leading to a scuffle during which his wife was allegedly assaulted and his physician arrested.

The ADC described the incident as a violation of constitutional rights and accused the Tinubu government of using state institutions to intimidate political opponents. 

It further claimed El-Rufai has been denied access to his family and doctor despite court orders granting him unrestricted access to lawyers, medical practitioners,
