The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has accused the Presidency of contradicting itself over comments on Nigeria’s sovereignty following criticism of Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar by the presidency.
The reaction was contained in a statement posted on the official social media page of the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, on Friday.
Abdullahi was responding to remarks credited to the Presidency, which stated that Nigeria “is a sovereign nation, not a satellite of any foreign power,” while criticising Atiku over issues relating to foreign engagement.
According to Abdullahi, it was contradictory for the Presidency to invoke Nigeria’s sovereignty after publicly celebrating a letter reportedly sent by United States President Donald Trump to President Bola Tinubu earlier in the week.
