Two of Nigeria’s medal prospects in athletics at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, Temitope Adeshina and Ella Onojuvwevwo, have arrived in Glasgow as track and field events begin on Monday (today), PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The US-based athletes joined Team Nigeria’s camp at separate times over the weekend.
Adeshina, the Nigerian record holder in the women’s high jump, will be competing at her second Commonwealth Games after making her debut at Birmingham 2022.
The 27-year-old had been a doubt for the Games due to travel issues, but those concerns were resolved following her arrival on Saturday.
Adeshina enjoyed an outstanding 2026 NCAA season, remaining unbeaten while winning all available indoor and outdoor titles. She heads into the Games with a season’s best clearance of 1.97m and is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s top medal prospects in the field events.
