Nigeria’s largest carrier, Air Peace Limited, has attributed the recent operational disruptions to a convergence of sudden, uncoordinated safety and environmental challenges ranging from false fire alarms and severe weather to bird strikes and fuel logistics bottlenecks.
In an official statement signed by Oluwatoyin Olajide, the airline’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), the carrier issued a formal apology to the flying public following a wave of flight delays and cancellations across its domestic and regional route networks in recent days.
According to the airline’s management, the recent schedule disruptions were driven by a combination of compounding operational factors.
The airline revealed that an inadvertent false fire alarm triggered safety protocols that grounded one of its primary aircraft for thorough technical evaluation. Around the same period, another aircraft was grounded for multiple days following a bird strike, removing significant capacity from the airline’s active rotation.
