Airtel Money Kenya CEO exits as company prepares for landmark London IPO

Anne Otieno, Airtel Money Kenya’s chief executive, has exited as parent company Airtel Africa prepares for a landmark initial public offering (IPO) on the London Stock Exchange in the second half of 2026. 

The public float of the mobile money unit is expected to value the fintech business at approximately $10 billion while raising about $1.5 billion

The departure comes at a critical time for Airtel Africa, which recently confirmed plans to float Airtel Money on London’s main market in the second half of 2026, after months of delays caused by volatile global market conditions. 

While Airtel Africa has not linked the executive’s exit directly to the IPO, leadership changes so close to a public listing often attract investor scrutiny, particularly in high-growth financial services businesses where operational stability is closely watched.
