Aisha Yesufu, Rufai Oseni fume over N8bn allocation for churches, mosques in 2026 budget

Reactions have continued to trail reports indicating that the Federal Government earmarked about N8.05 billion in the 2026 Budget for church and mosque-related projects.

 

An analysis by a public accountability organisation, Tracka, indicated that about N1.91 billion was allocated to church-related projects and N6.14 billion to mosque-related projects in the 2026 budget.

 

Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar had on Tuesday slammed the President Bola Tinubu government, wondering why the whooping sum should be allocated to religious projects while poor masses continue to wallow in abject poverty.

 

Reacting, Aisha Yesufu, a chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, questioned why “monies that should be used to fund education” are being allocated to religious projects.
