The Corps Commander of the Osun State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, Isaac Omoyele, has called on residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies in tackling insecurity, kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
Speaking on Tuesday to commemorate World Amotekun Day, Omoyele said the annual observance, which began on 7 July 2025, is synonymous with the principles of the United Nations Charter by promoting peace, security and the protection of lives and property.
The corps commander said the agency had continued to confront rising security threats despite what he described as increasingly emboldened criminal activities.
“We have been dealing with insecurity and kidnapping. Criminals are emboldened in their activities daily, but we are up to the task,” Omoyele said.
He disclosed that Amotekun had strategically deployed personnel to boundary communities across Osun State to monitor entry points frequently used by suspected criminals.
“This is why we have positioned our personnel in all the boundary towns since we know the points of entry of some of these criminals,” he stated.
Omoyele urged members of the public to remain alert and share useful information with security agencies, stressing that maintaining security was a collective responsibility.
“We want people to be vigilant since it is not only Amotekun that can do it, and other security agencies are up to the task,” he said.
