The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State on Monday launched its campaign for the August 22 local government elections in Ikwo Local Government Area, with party leaders calling for strong grassroots mobilisation.
Leaders from Ikwo and other parts of the state stressed the importance of collecting Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to secure victory across the state’s 171 wards and 13 local government areas.
Governor Francis Nwifuru, represented by Deputy Governor Patricia Obila, presented the party flag to the APC chairmanship candidate for Ikwo, Mr Chidi Nwode. He described the party’s chairmanship and councillorship candidates as “tested, trusted and marketable.”
“I therefore urge party supporters to embark on issue-based campaigns and avoid actions capable of undermining the peaceful conduct of the election,” Nwifuru said. “We have presented these candidates to you, and it is therefore your responsibility to go into communities and make them acceptable to the people.
