APC Supporters Protest Exclusion of Makinde’s Name

Supporters of Abiola Makinde, the member representing Ondo East/Ondo West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, staged a protest on Wednesday over the omission of his name from the list of candidates released by the All Progressives Congress (APC) national secretariat.

Makinde, who is seeking a third term, reportedly won the party’s primary election in his constituency.

However, his name was missing from the official list, sparking outrage among his loyalists.

The protest, which began days after hundreds of APC women demonstrated in Akure over similar concerns, spread to Ondo Town as supporters marched through major streets.

They carried placards with inscriptions such as “Truth Must Prevail in APC,” “We Reject Injustice,” and “This Injustice Can’t Stand.”

Party chieftain Isaac Oyebade told protesters that loyalty to the APC should not mean silence in the face of injustice.

“We are here to defend the mandate freely given by party members and to ensure that justice prevails,”
