Atiku Alleges N12.8tn Hidden Allocation in Tinubu’s 2026 Budget

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration of concealing a staggering N12.8 trillion allocation in Nigeria’s 2026 budget.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Phrank Shaibu, on Monday , Atiku claimed the funds were tucked under the Service-Wide Vote (SWV), a provision he described as opaque and unaccountable.

According to Atiku, the SWV allocation skyrocketed from N638 billion in 2025 to N12.8 trillion in 2026, a nearly 1,918% increase. 

He argued that this unprecedented jump raises serious concerns about transparency and fiscal responsibility.He further noted that 84% of the 2026 budget is concentrated in just 10 Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), with the bulk of the funds warehoused in the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.
