Entertainment entrepreneur and founder of Diaspora Ball, Ayo Magbagbeola, popularly known as Ayo Entity, has been named the recipient of the African Global Entertainment Icon of the Year 2026 award by the African Global Excellence Awards.
According to a statement shared with Society Plus, the award recognises his contributions to Africa’s entertainment, lifestyle and cultural sectors, particularly through Diaspora Ball, a premium entertainment event that has become one of the major attractions of the annual Detty December celebrations.
Announcing the honour, convener of AGEA, Victor Udoh, described Magbagbeola as a visionary whose work has helped redefine entertainment experiences while promoting tourism, investment and global appreciation for African creativity.
According to Udoh, Diaspora Ball has grown beyond an entertainment event to become a platform that connects Africans across continents and showcases the continent’s cultural richness.
He said the selection of Ayo Entity followed an assessment of his impact on the entertainment
