Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, has taken an early lead in the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) presidential poll, according to preliminary results released on Saturday, July 18, 2026.
As of 11:33 a.m., Badejo-Okusanya had secured 4,860 votes, accounting for 41.77% of the ballots counted so far.
Her closest rival, Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN, received 3,851 votes (33.10%), while Aare Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN trailed with 2,924 votes (25.13%).
With around 11,600 votes already cast, the trend strongly favors Badejo-Okusanya, though final results were still pending at the time of reporting.
The election follows weeks of controversy, including calls to postpone the vote, demands for mandatory NIN verification, and accusations of interference.
On Friday, outgoing NBA President Afam Osigwe, SAN, rejected claims that he was attempting to rig the process or favor any candidate.
